How Limeades for Learning Works

SONIC donates a portion of every Drink, Slush, and Shake purchase to support local public schools.

Classroom Support

Through a partnership with DonorsChoose.org we fund teacher projects that provide supplies and resources for classrooms across the country.

Teacher Development

Each year, we provide scholarships for teachers to attend an immersive, 2-day training at Ron Clark Academy to renew enthusiasm and enhance teaching skills.

  • Powered by the SONIC Foundation, Limeades for Learning is SONIC’s national initiative to support local public schools across the communities we serve.

    Since 2009, SONIC has donated more than $26 million to public schools.

  • Limeades for Learning is funded by our guests! SONIC donates a portion of every drink, slush and shake sale to the SONIC Foundation, which is used to support local public schools across the communities SONIC serves through partners like DonorsChoose.

  • More than 47 thousand teachers and 9.5 million public school students have benefited from Limeades for Learning since 2009.

  • SONIC donates $1.20 for each box of cups sold through participating drive-in locations to the SONIC Foundation, which is used to fund classroom needs submitted by teachers across the U.S.

  • DonorsChoose is a nonprofit organization that allows individuals to donate directly to public school classroom projects that are created by teachers. 

    If you’d like to donate directly to a teacher or school near you, simply visit DonorsChoose.org and search for a project you’d like to support.

  • Limeades for Learning is a year-round effort. to local education and classroom needs. Teachers may receive support during Teacher Appreciation Month in May, Back to School in August, and anytime during the year through other Limeades for Learning funding events.

  • Teachers’ Circle is a SONIC rewards program exclusively for educators that provides them with special rewards and offers online and in the SONIC App.

    Any teacher, faculty or staff at a K-12 or degree-granting can join Teachers’ Circle by downloading or opening the SONIC App and updating their account settings to confirm. Space is limited.

  • Documents must be authentic and issued by your school, displaying the following criteria: Status (faculty status must be displayed on the doc), school name, date (cannot be expired), and your full name, as recognized by your school.

    Common & Accepted Documents include:

    Link to faculty listing on school website

    Class schedules dated with current academic year

  • We’re still funding teacher projects throughout the year! Instead of voting on projects, the SONIC Foundation will be donating directly to fund classroom projects or matching donations on DonorsChoose that have been submitted by teachers in our SONIC communities.

  • SONIC promotes an entrepreneurial spirit, and each operator manages each Drive-In on an individual basis. Teachers are encouraged to stop by their local SONIC Drive-In and introduce themselves to the manager. Together, they may discover ways they can collaborate to bring learning and creative resources to students.

  • Contact your local SONIC Drive-In and talk to the manager about other school programs available. SONIC is dedicated to improving the lives of children in our communities.
